Bastien Bürcher observe le monde d’aujourd’hui avec l'œil d’hier. Les silhouettes mystérieuses habillées de contrastes semblent sortir d’un café des années 1920. Franco-suisse résidant en Allemagne après avoir vécu un temps en Belgique et en Italie, l’artiste s’inspire librement de la figuration européenne, métissage de la modernité où les références à l’art ancien et aux grands mythes littéraires ne sont jamais très loin. Le geste spontané affine une technique élaborée, où l’encre et la peinture se mêlent dans de précieuses textures. Recherchant la gravité dans le raffinement, Bastien Bürcher poursuit l’histoire du peintre qui contemple le réel.

Bastien Bürcher observes today’s world through the lens of yesterday. The mysterious figures, dressed in contrasting colours, seem to have stepped out of a 1920s café. A Franco-Swiss artist living in Germany after spending time in Belgium and Italy, he draws freely on European figurative art, a fusion of modernity where references to ancient art and great literary myths are never far away.
